What Do French Trade Advisors Do?

Based in New York City, Julien Legeard has served as president of construction consulting firm The Prestige Group since 2014. A native of France, Julien Legeard is a member of Conseillers du Commerce Exterieur (CCE), which named him a French Trade Advisor in 2012.

Through the recommendation of the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, CCE appoints French businessmen living in France and across the globe as foreign trade advisors in an effort to support the country’s trade policy. Individuals typically serve as trade advisors for three years, after which they can renew. There are more than 4,000 businessmen serving as advisors in 140 nations around the world.

French Trade Advisors work on a volunteer basis, coordinating with private and public organizations alike to support the growth of French businesses. All advisors seek to carry out four primary missions.

First, they serve as consultants to public authorities, delivering their knowledge and advice on global trade matters. Second, they provide direct support to businesses looking to expand internationally, which involves inviting organizations to CCE events and helping businesses acquire funding. Third, CCEs work alongside students to provide them the training they need to pursue international careers in trade. Lastly, they highlight the positives about France to encourage their business network to invest in the nation’s trade activities.

Mission of the French-American Chamber of Commerce

Julien Legeard serves as president of The Prestige Group, a construction consulting company based in New York City. As part of the French-American Chamber of Commerce (FACC), Julien Legeard was nominated for its Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2015.

The FACC supports entrepreneurs who build the economic relationship between France and the United States while promoting the development of member companies in New York. It serves as a networking platform as well as an information exchange, allowing professionals in the tax, entrepreneurship, customs, and immigration fields to share their insights with one another through panel discussions and events such as networking opportunities, sports tournaments, and holiday receptions.

Each year, the FACC's New York chapter hosts its Gala Evening at Tribeca Rooftop in Manhattan. This serves as both a fundraising event for the organization's nonprofit arm, the French-American Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and a chance for members to connect with one another. Through these events, the FACC is able to raise funds for scholarship programs, building the next generation of French-American business leaders.
